Nintendo Australia announces that within the first weekend of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y hitting shelves 12th October 2013, combined sales exceeded 100,000 units – smashing all previous records for a Nintendo game in Australia and New Zealand. The previous Pokémon release of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version sold a combined total of more than 80,000 units in its first week of sales, and the combined sales of Pokémon X and Pokémon Y exceeded this in the first day alone.

The demand for these highly anticipated titles has meant that some retailers in Australia and New Zealand have been faced with an out-of-stock situation.
