General Electric Declares December 3rd “3D Printing Day”; Celebrates with Giveaway

There has been a lot of buzz surrounding 3D printing technology in the past year and GE (General Electric) wants to bring awareness home for the holidays by giving you a chance to win one of several customizable 3D trinkets just in time for the season of giving. The electronics manufacturer has partnered with various designers and CAD artists whose ranks host the likes of weatherman Al Roker, fashionista Stacy London, 4chan founder Chris Poole, and even a little digital music service called Spotify to produce ten small 3D-printed products to give away on December 3rd under the Twitter ploy, #3DPrintMyGift.

To enter is simple, all you have to do is log on to http://3dprintmygift.tumblr.com on December 3rd, choose one of the ten prototype designs and tweet your desire using the hashtag #3DPrintMyGift. If your tweet is chosen, you will be paired with a designer to develop the products coloration to your liking. The trinket will then be printed and shipped to your door all before Christmas Day.
