Got a Galaxy Note 3 that’s ready for the Android 4.4(s goog) update? You might want to check your phone’s case before upgrading. Reports of the software update causing incompatibility with third-party cases are making the rounds and the commonality seems to be the Android 4.4 software update that’s not yet widely available.

Obviously, software won’t cause a phone case to cease being a protective handset cover. The issue here is that additional functions in a third-party case — think of sleeping the phone when closed, showing certain data through a see-through window or mobile payments — may not work.
