A California-based market research firm, In-Stat recently reported that nearly 79 per cent of American businesses now use VoIP phones at one location.
The Michigan Legislature is now considering a bill that would pave the way for phone companies to phase out offering traditional landline phone services by 2017 and replace them with VoIP and other alternatives. The Senate bill 636 will also establish safeguards for certain areas where Internet-based communications are not a reliable option.
