Nintendo of Canada has revealed the number of bananas frozen as part of its Banana Mania Contest. In total, 4,835 bananas were inside a frozen block of ice as part of the contest, which was part of an effort to promote Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze‘s February 21st launch. All the bananas were donated to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, a non-profit organization that provides assistance to more than 28,000 people weekly.
“Nintendo of Canada was pleased to share this experience with the thousands of Donkey Kong fans who celebrated this latest game launch with us,” said Nintendo of Canada vice president Ron Bertram. “We are just as bananas as our fans about Donkey Kong and look forward to swinging, swimming, leaping and barrel-blasting through Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze!”
