Google’s powerful new Nexus 9 tablet went on pre-order on Google Play earlier on Friday. But that’s not the only inventory change on Google Play — it looks as if Google has stopped directly selling last year’s Nexus 7, as well as the Nexus 10 tablet, which was first launched in late 2012.
It is logical for the HTC Nexus 9 to replace the aging [company]Samsung[/company] Nexus 10, especially considering the focus on 64-bit computing in Android 5.0 Lollipop. But the [company]Asus[/company] Nexus 7 was a different product — recently priced at $200, it sells for half the price of the $399 Nexus 9, and for many people, it remains the most affordable device running an unadulterated version of Android. Both the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 will get an update to Lollipop, so it’s not like [company]Google[/company] has decided to stop supporting the tablets.
