Those of you hoping to use Miiverse or browse the internet while playing Super Smash Bros on the current Nintendo 3DS will be in for a shock. These features will only work if you have the new Nintendo 3DS which launches next month in Japan and sometime next year in the west. However, you will still be able to save in game screenshots to your Nintendo 3DS SD card.

“Miiverse cannot be run while this software is being played, so posting screenshots to this community is not possible. When using this software with the New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo 3DS XL, Miiverse can be used while playing.”

We’ve heard a number of release dates for Super Smash Bros on the Wii U and most of those are scheduled for sometime in November. Super Smash Bros for Nintendo 3DS is currently out in Japan and judging from streams everyone appears to be enjoying it. However, Kotaku has learnt that the game has caused some Nintendo 3DS Circle Pads to break off completely. It’s either the rubber part of the Circle Pad breaking off or the plastic part underneath which appears to be coming off as well. Nintendo Japan has yet to comment on the situation, but it appears to be reasonably widespread.

Although many people think that security is a monolith, in reality it’s much more of a mosaic — full of nuances and subtleties. There are undoubtedly various kinds of threats associated with cloud services. From the perspective of the cloud service provider, the most pressing security issue involves protecting its back-end infrastructure from outside attackers. An attacker who can break in through the back door can abscond with a wealth of data.

Businesses using SaaS services, or individual users of iCloud, have other concerns. Account compromise through the back door is worrying, but in…
