While the HP(s hpq) Chromebook 11 debuted as a Wi-Fi only model, the product page has long said that LTE would be an option. A chip from Altair Semiconductor will add mobile broadband to the laptop, but don’t expect a signal outside of Verizon(s vz)(s vod) LTE coverage areas. To keep costs down the chip won’t support 3G networks. That means you’ll have to find Wi-Fi for the laptop if there’s no LTE available. Chromebook(s goog) Pixel owners are already used to that: That laptop’s LTE model also has 4G and Wi-Fi only connections.

Intel expands “Intel Inside” cloud branding beyond Amazon
Intel(s intc) which parlayed the hell out of the “Intel Inside” sticker in the PC world, aims to replicate that branding success in cloud. As of Tuesday, 16 cloud providers can plaster the less-succinct “Powered by Intel Cloud Technology” logo on their web pages. They will join public cloud kingpin Amazon Web Services(s amzn) which has labeled its Xeon-based instances this way since September.
Note: the AWS C3 instances that sold out shortly after launch were Intel Sandy Bridge-backed instances that were part of this program, said Raejeanne Skillern, director of cloud marketing for Intel(s intc).
The other participants in the program now include Virtustream, Rackspace(s rax) and CenturyLink-Savvis(s ctl) in the U.S.; Canopy in the U.K; Cloud4com in the Czech Republic; CloudWatt and OVH in France, Korea Telecom or KT, and a few others. Together all those players are expected to account for more than $3.5 billion in cloud…

Samsung just introduced a fleet of new tablets at CES last week, but it looks like there’s at least one more on the way. A user manual for the Galaxy Tab 3 Lite, spotted by Sammy Today, has appeared on the company’s Polish support page, revealing specs and other information about the forthcoming slate.
According to the documentation, the Tab 3 Lite is a 7-inch Android(s goog) tablet with a 1024 x 600 pixel display. It measures 7.59 by 4.37 by 0.38 inches and weighs 10.9 ounces. That makes it a little bigger and bulkier than last year’s Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. The specs aren’t quite as impressive either, but that’s to be expected from a ‘Lite’ device. The user manual says the tablet is powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz Marvell PXA986 processor and 1GB of RAM. There’s a scant 8GB of internal memory, along with a microSD…

Mobile users on Android can now access Udemy’s course marketplace, which offers Massively Open Online Courses (MOOCs) on a variety of topics.
According to Dennis Yang, Udemy’s COO and President, the new version couldn’t come soon enough: the company spent roughly a year getting the app to play nicely with Android, while also offering a native experience different from the iPhone.
“Optimizing takes a long time,” Yang explained via phone. “You want feature parity, but you want it unique to take advantage of the APIs of other platforms.”
Yang says that the move to Android is a natural extension of Udemy’s long-term goal — to get its course marketplace in the hands of as many people as possible. The company’s internal statistics show…
