Sega Will Release More Free To Play Games For Nintendo 3DS
Toshihiro Nagoshi, Sega Chief Creative Officer, has spoken to Famitsu about the company’s plans to release more free to play titles for the Nintendo 3DS. Nagoshi is already working on Sega’s first free-to-play game for the Nintendo 3DS, Initial D: Perfect Drift Online. Nagoshi says that he is up to the challenge of making free to play games – which are popular on smartphones and tablets – work on the Nintendo 3DS.
“We don’t intend to stop with this title, and after looking over its results, we’ll think about what to do next. However, unlike games for smartphones, I believe there’s a perfect shape of ways to do things, somewhere out there, for the Nintendo 3DS. I believe that finding it will be our challenge, and in many ways, Initial D will be our first step.”
“At the moment, I can say that we’ve been thinking about plenty of things. We have suggestions…

Viabilidade???
Apple renews bid to ban Samsung smartphone sales in the US
Apple(s aapl) might have won some recent battles against Samsung, but it’s still looking to win the war. FOSS Patents reports that Apple on Thursday renewed its motion for a permanent injunction against certain Samsung smartphone sales in the U.S.
Apple is looking to ban Samsung devices that violate a number of patents, including pinch-to-zoom, rubber-banding and tap-to-zoom-and-navigate. What’s interesting is that most of the products named by Apple are no longer even available in the U.S., so a ban on the products identified wouldn’t have much of an immediate effect. But, as FOSS notes:
It’s important to focus on the asserted patents, not the accused products. Obviously, the products that are named in an April 2011 lawsuit (such as the Galaxy S II) are no longer commercially relevant. But Apple is seeking an injunction that would also cover “any other product not more than colorably different from an Infringing Product…

Rdio’s would-be Netflix killer, the streaming video service Vdio, calls it quits
Rdio is killing its streaming video service Vdio, abandoning plans to combine the two in a joint subscription media offering and raising the question whether any newcomer at this point can compete with Netflix (S NFLX), Hulu and Amazon (S AMZN) Prime Instant.
Rdio announced the decision on its website Friday, writing:
“Despite our efforts, we were not able to deliver the differentiated customer experience we had hoped for. We want to thank all customers who have tried our service, and we have given gift cards to all those who have purchased content or have unused rental content.”
The announcement marks the unexpected shuttering of a premium video offering backed by Skype co-founder Janus Friis that at one point intended to heads-on compete with Netflix.
Vdio’s stealthy and rocky beginnings
Vdio was founded in December of 2009 under the stealth startup name Project WBS, and remained in stealth mode…
